CHRISTMAS is the season of gift-giving. That’s why it is the most wonderful time of the year, especially for children. Even people with very tight budgets won’t skp this yearly tradition of sharing, lest they disappoint family embers, friends and godchildren.
Those with cash to burn may have finished their Christmas shopping this early. But for those who are still plannin to hit the malls, here are some tips that may help you save.
- PREPARE A LIST - Having a list of things to buy for your family, friends and godchildren will help a lot. by having a list, you won’t forget anyone, you go shopping only once and you don’t overspend.
- SHOP EARLY - Have you started buying gifts for Christmas? There are some who as early as April or May have started going to the mall looking for gifts. Experts advise that it is better to shop early when the payment counter queue is shorter and the prices are lower. And of course, choices are even better.
- SET A BUDGET CAP - Stick to your budget. while yo may be expecting your 13th month pay or a hefty Christmas bonus, don’t overspend. Keep in mind that there are other expenses other than Christmas gifts.
- BE CREATIVE - Good gifts need not be expensive. As the saying goes, its the thought that counts. You may try making gifts at home such as cookies or fruit cake. You just need to be creative.
- HAGGLE - You have to master the art of haggling if you want to buy that expensive gift you want at a lower price. The tip is to ask for half price off so when you meet halfway, it’s always at least 25 percent savings. Be prepared to walk away when it’s not the price you want. Chances are, they’ll go after you. If not, well, its not meant for you.
- DRESS COMFORTABLY - Don’t punish your feet. Comfortable shoes are definitely a must when you go hunting for the best bargains. When you are at ease with your attire, it also gives you an edge in haggling. You’re enjoying while you’re shopping.
- TAKE CARE OF YOUR WALLET - Take care of you wallet. Keep it safe from pickpockets.
